My Approach

Rooted in connection…

I believe healing happens in safe, supportive relationships — including the one we build in therapy. In our sessions, I'll draw on a variety of therapeutic modalities as we work toward your unique goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Understanding how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other — and learning to reshape unhelpful patterns.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Building skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and navigating relationships with more balance and clarity.

Attachment

Attachment Theory

Exploring how early relationships shape the way you connect now — and creating space for healthier patterns to emerge.

Self-Compassion

Self-Compassion

Responding to internal distress with understanding, care, and balance — rather than criticism or avoidance.

What we work toward

My goal is
to help you:

  • Reconnect with yourself
  • Work through old patterns or past wounds that can resurface in parenting
  • Learn self-care strategies and self-compassion tools to find balance in your daily life
About Me

Hi, I'm Megan Darkins.

Megan, Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Balanced Life Counseling

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Oregon, providing virtual therapy to individuals in Oregon and Virginia.

My passion for supporting women through pregnancy and motherhood runs deep — before private practice, I spent years working in a hospital labor and delivery and NICU unit, walking alongside women and families through some of the most profound and challenging moments of their lives. That experience shaped everything about how I show up as a therapist.

My own journey into motherhood has only deepened that understanding — with empathy and zero judgment, because wow, being a parent is hard. I know what it's like to love your kids deeply and still feel like you've lost a piece of yourself somewhere along the way. That's exactly the kind of thing we can work through together.

Outside of therapy I love spending time with my husband and our two beautiful kids. My hobbies include drinking coffee, target runs, dinosaur lectures from my preschooler, and watching reality tv.
